{"id":1320,"date":"2013-11-19T08:32:43","date_gmt":"2013-11-19T12:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thejovialcrew.com\/?page_id=1320"},"modified":"2013-11-23T11:16:07","modified_gmt":"2013-11-23T15:16:07","slug":"three-jolly-fishermen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thejovialcrew.com\/?page_id=1320","title":{"rendered":"Three Jolly Fishermen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I learned this great ditty from the singing of John Roberts with the group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldenhindmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ye Mariners All<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 From Roy Palmer in <a title=\"Books to Read\" href=\"https:\/\/thejovialcrew.com\/?page_id=914\"><b>The Oxford Book of Sea Songs<\/b> <\/a>(1986), here&#8217;s a little history: &#8220;Steve\u00a0Gardham recorded this from Thomas Calvert of Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire, in 1971. \u00a0The song, which seems to have been a particular favourite in the Whitby area (though Cecil Sharp had a version from Middlesex, attached to a dance), was issued on a broadside printed in 1837-8 by W. and T.
