To me haul away!<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nIn South Australia \u2018round Cape Horn!<br \/>\n\uf0d8 <strong><em>We\u2019re a-bound for South Australia!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0d8 <strong><em>Haul away, you rolling king,<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To me heave away! To me haul away!<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All the way you\u2019ll hear me sing<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We\u2019re a-bound for South Australia!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As I stepped out one morning fair<br \/>\n&gt; <strong><em>To me heave&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s there I met Miss Nancy Blair.<br \/>\n&gt; <strong><em>We&#8217;re a-bound&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I shook her up, I shook her down,<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\nI shook her round and round the town.<br \/>\n&gt;<\/p>\n<p>There ain\u2019t but one thing grieves me mind,<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\nBut to leave Miss Nancy&#8217;s bare behind.<br \/>\n&gt;<\/p>\n<p>And as you wallop around Cape Horn,<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\nYou\u2019ll wish to Christ you\u2019d never been born!<br \/>\n&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Up the coast to Vallipo<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\nNorthward on to Callao.<br \/>\n&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, rock and roll me over boys,<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\nLet\u2019s get this damn job over boys.<br \/>\n&gt;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stan Hugill gives an alternative set of verses, which accounts for the Codfish angle&#8230; Similar to the song &#8220;Cape Cod Girls&#8221;.\u00a0 Stan provides an alternative melody that had been used, but it can work just as well with the melody we all know.\u00a0 Sailors might change the place names when they chose, and even make the whole song a bit bawdier, as we sometimes do after hours&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>*Downeast girls don&#8217;t use no combs.<br \/>\n<em><strong>Heave Away! Heave Away!<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThey comb their hair with a whalefish bone.<br \/>\n<strong><em>An&#8217; We&#8217;re bound for South Australia!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heave away, me bully boys!<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Heave away!
