Coming Soon!

Although there will be another alert as we get closer, now’s the time to mark your calendars… And get your tickets!  On Friday 28 July we’re playing aboard the Becky Thatcher, leaving the dock in Deep River for a little river cruise between 6p and 9p, singing all the way!  Tickets are 45$ and you should either call 800.377.3987 or visit the website essexsteamtrain.com.  Your ticket gets you a train ride from the station in Essex up to rendezvous with the riverboat, time with us, and the return trip via the train to your vehicles back in Essex!  Perfect date night!

My husband and I moved to Connecticut from San Francisco, where we’ve attended a monthly shanty sing for years aboard an old docked ship at the local Maritime museum there. We’ve missed it very much.
I just learned about The Jovial Crew from a friend who is familiar with you (Meghan Eichorn) and learned about your weekly gig at The Griswold. We have two small children, so I assume we can’t attend your gigs there with them. Do you guys ever play anywhere where kids could attend (to be clear…. We’re not looking for any kind of specific kid-centered place. Just a place where we could legally bring two kids in tow to see you guys play)?

    Thanks!

    Katie

Sometimes we do play in a more family friendly setting. If you look at our schedule, we’ll be on the Becky Thatcher on Friday the 28th of July. On August the 25th (a Thursday) a couple of us as LongSplice will be playing at the Connecticut River Museum, wrapping up their Thursdays on the Dock series – free to the public although donations are appreciated.

Some people do bring their kids for dinner in the Gris and stay for the first set. After that the gloves tend to come off.

      Hi Katie,

I run a family-friendly monthly Chantey Sing in Rowayton, CT, near Stamford, if that’s convenient to your location. The summer hours are the third Thursday evenings of the month from 6:30-9:30 pm, but the Sept.-May hours are the second Sunday from 4-7 pm, a little more family friendly. Sorry so confusing! We meet in an art gallery, right on the river. Nice spot and legal for the kids! I’d be happy to put you on the mailing list?.
