September Happenings

Welcome to the end of summer!  It has been a rather comfortable one for weather for the most part… last night and today sucks but we’ll get past that.

Last night – Labour Day – was rather good for some of our calmer, nicer songs.  And we had a surprise guest in the audience – Mickley Dolenz, who is in an upcoming show at the Ivoryton Playhouse called “Comedy Is Hard”    He sang along with us from his vantage point at the bar and even took a pic with our own Abby –

The Monday of 22 Sept. will be our “Pirate Night” by request, in acknowledgement of the annual Talk like A Pirate day.  Come down attired in appropriate pirate and wench costume as sing the night away!

Remember that our day will be the following Monday the 22d!

Don’t forget to visit our Facebook page and we’ve another new song posted on our site – Heave Away My Johnny.

Apologies

The website crashed sometime in the early hours of 28 August and it took some time to figure that even the back door was blocked.  It seems to have been related to Google Analytics which always worked just fine until now.  But as you see we’re back up and running!

Returns

So Cliff is home and healing up although our man is still in a great deal of pain.  He thanks everyone for all of their good wishes and plans to stop in and say hello whenever he can – it may be some time, though.

Rick will have returned from his trip down the E-RI-E Canal and will rejoin us this next Monday the 25th.

And our thanks to everyone who came down last night and made it so much fun!  How we do LOVE people who sing along on the choruses with conviction!!

Tim, Jos… and Rodney!

Here’s Brown!  Rick being away servicing another obligation, our good friend Rodney Brown will join us for Monday the 18th!  He’ll bring his own bag of songs… Pirates, whales, and walking a long way for a girl!

Cliff Sabbatical

So Cliff will be going in for some out-patient surgery later this week and will be unable to sing for several weeks while his gut heals up… No date of return just yet but we expect by the end of September.  Meanwhile, you’ll still have Tim, Rick, and Joseph and perhaps the occasional guest.  There are other plans in the works for upcoming Mondays and other things so check with our schedule periodically…

A couple of songs recently added to our list…

And don’t forget to visit our Facebook Page – see the side panel to your right!

Hawaiian Shirt Night!

This coming Monday, 4 August, will be our Hawaiian Shirt Night.  No special reason but that it’s usually hot and who doesn’t love exotic drinks and girls in grass skirts!  Break out your favourite Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts, grass skirt, grab a lei and come on down for drinks and song!

Elvis in Hawaiian Shirt

Don’t forget that Cliff is singing down at Scottish Dave’s in Clinton THIS THURSDAY the 31st of July.   And Himself will be going into hospital for a procedure that will keep him from doing much singing for about 6 weeks, so don’t miss these opportunities to hear the man for yourself for the rest of the summer!

Also – two recent blog articles that include a healthy recollection of enjoying Monday night with us!    – Rachel Siegel, and – Jesse Swimm.

You ought to be publically pissed on…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our man and founding band member PAUL ELLIOTT!!

Paul

The man turns 21 or something on Monday the 21st – Pop on over to his YouTube page and send him some B-day greetings and send some likes to his vids!  If anybody asks, you can tell ’em, er… that Joe sent ya!

This Coming Week

So this next Thursday the 17th, Rick and Joseph will be playing as LongSplice a short walk down from the Gris and at the Connecticut River Museum, 5:30 to 7:30p, out on the dock (weather permitting) or inside the building as required.  There’s a 5$ cover charge for non-members which supports the cause, and a small cash bar.  We really hope you’ll make it down and support us!

Next Monday the 21st will be the annual “Tip-A-Cop” night in which police officers act as servers with tips to be funneled to the Special Olympics; In the tap-room during our breaks they will hold a raffle with many and sundry cool stuff to be given off.
